I learnt a lot about how to improve productivity and reduce costs and waste when I was working in Sherwin Williams. They have 4 filling lines with 2 operators per line. Our goal was that the operator can have more autonomy in maintenance. So we started to do fortnightly meetings to define improvements in equipment and setting adjustment procedures. In order to measure the efficiency, we had a software to record the stops of the lines (bar codes) and get:
- OEE (OVERALL EQUIPMENT EFFECTIVENESS) - Pareto analysis - AVAILABILITY - PERFORMANCE - QUALITY
Our aim was to reduce corrective maintenance, improving the quality of preventive maintenance and increase the efficiency using for eg. SMED (Single-Minute Exchange of Die) techniques.
A clear way was reducing set-up times in the line using this philosophy:

Besides, we started to put focus in Housekeeping and I made a Practical procedure with tips to improve the quality, safe and environment.
