Nothing is lost, everything is transformed...
So, why don't do it with our waste?
In an ideal world, each process will be intelligently designed in a way with zero waste, scrap and/or emissions.
In an ideal world, all materials will be use 100% making a circular economy possible for all the industries.
Many companies "waste" their money paying to X 3rd parties in order to remove their rubbish...but maybe if we think just in categorizing our own rubbish this could be raw material for another company or another process...and which is more incredible: a few persons are willing to pay for it!
For example when I worked in a factory of rubber parts, 29% of the rubber raw material was ended up in scrap.

It took just a search on internet to discover that a grist company was actually buying this kind of material and selling it as product for asphalt mixtures, construction and filling for bags boxing...and all this in just 30 blocks from tour site!

This reminds me when I was working in a project of Wood Pellets. My friends and I started to call all the companies who work with wood to ask them what they were doing with their chips and sawdust. What they were taking as a general waste going to landfill was the raw material for us. This valuable chip, through a process of compaction, is considered as a high-performance biofuel for stoves and boilers in many inhospitable and not so inhospitable parts of the world.
We won a prize for this project under the "advance" program of Ashoka. And also, the opportunity to present the machine in the catalog of Innovate.

This scrap=gold thing, also reminds me my years of brewing craft beer with my friend Claudia...
At first we wasted a lot of water in the process...then, we realized that just with a little of coordination we could wash our cars with this water and clean all the floor (brewing craft beer can be quite messy). After a while she started to investigate what to do with wasted malt and discovered that this is very useful as biofuel as well for biodigestores. She graduated in Science with that thesis.

Cheers!
This is a fact...almost all products have waste in its process, the key is use this waste as by-product for another product. You win, I win, the environment win, all we are winners! ;)

This is a picture in the co-op "New mind" or "Nuevamente". They use plastic to create games for childreens, among other things.
