This was one of my favourites projects under the Machine Elements subject of my programme because it was about investigate something new in my country, start from zero and because this project enveloped social inclusion.

Biofuel based on wood waste (pellet) is the result of recycling chip and sawdust. This product is obtained from compacted sawdust in a pelleting machine.

Argentina is one of the main centers where a high amount of wood waste which is destined for final disposal occurs. The use of wood pellets as a renewable energy source it's new in Argentina, and even more if your main content is based in wood waste collected. Some of the advantages offered pellets are: • The pellet is compressed wood energy can be stored and transported easily. • The ashing is very low with the use of pellets does not differ essentially from the use of fuel. • Does not produce fumes or gases harmful to health so that the pellet can be burned in densely populated areas. • Burning pellets does not increase the emission of greenhouse gases. Even it reduces these emissions because it replaces pollutants energy sources, such as coal and oil. • The product obtained is clean, pleasant smelling and smooth texture.

The original plan was make contacts with unemployed people for collecting the waste of wood and bring us to start the process.

Unfortunately we could not move forward with the project due to lack of resources and policies at that time did not support us. But I have all the information and contacts for anyone to follow or to resume at a more favorable time.
